Oh to be a Princess..

Friday 29th April 2011 - Unveiled the new generation of Princess..
yesss it was THE ROYAL WEDDING!

..A third of the world were watching and she certainly didn’t disappoint.
 The New Duchess of Cambridge looked insanely beautiful, Royal, elegant and everything I imagine a Princess should be.

Hats off to Kate who for the biggest moment of her life chose to ignite the flame for British fashion and the legacy that was Lee – Alexander McQueen, which was much to speculation (I knew it – WHY DIDN’T I PUT A BET ON, the bookies were said to have paid out over 15,000 for bets on McQueen.. DAMN).

When Kate Middleton stepped out of the vintage Rolls Royce Phantom, she stepped straight the pages of fashion history, finally revealing THEE wedding dress of all wedding dresses to a waiting world audience, (estimated at around two billion people!)

She carried a small bouquet of flowers which is supposed to have displayed a secret love message to her future husband - Designed by Shane Connolly, it featured blooms of significance to both families: Lily-of-the-valley - meaning return of happiness; Sweet William - for gallantry; hyacinth - for constancy of love; ivy - for fidelity, marriage, wedded love, friendship and affection; and myrtle - the emblem of marriage and love.

The design of the dress was both fashionable and fairytale. Perfectly sculpting her slight figure was a fitted corset top which then puffed out into a full skirt from below the waist with a 3 metre train. The Long-sleeved sculpted bodice was covered in intricate French Chantilly lacework, hand stitched by a team of 60 people, which incorporated individual hand-cut and embroidered flowers representing the rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock.

It is said that the hand-stitchers washed their hands every thirty minutes to keep the lace and threads pristine, and changed the needles every three hours! The lace was also used to trim the skirt, as well as the veil, which was made in layers of ivory silk tulle, and the ivory duchesse satin shoes. The tiara was called the ‘Halo’ made by Cartier in the 1930’s (and borrowed from the Queen! – who btw was looking Reem in Yellow wasn’t she?)

After the tragic loss of McQueen last year, many fashionista’s questioned whether the design house could even survive. But I think we can all say that Sarah Burton, the lady of the moment, will now fly the flag for a long time to come!

As for Pippa.. Yeah she looked hot but no way did she take any shine off how stunning Kate looked. Also I didn’t get why she was wearing white!? ONLY the bride should be wearing white!

Over all I thought it was a magical day, and when Wills whispered ‘You look beautiful’ as Kate arrived at the alter; I most definitely had a few tears in my eyes..

P.S. The second Alexander McQueen dress Kate wore later that eveing was UH-MAAAZING!
