The Coolest City..

My trip to Amsterdam was not one to be forgotten.
I had the time of my life.
There were so many elements of the city that had me captivated..
First off the snow was heavy which swept over the canal's and little bridges and iced over the bicycles - everwhere looked stunning.
Secondly I've never known anywhere that is so open about sex and drugs.
It was very sad in a way to walk past windows of women parading themselves for a living, kinda hard to get you're head around.
TIMEWARP was insane (from what I can remember) - the stadium was huge and I danced all night long.
and finally... the shops!
I wish I had more time to look around properly but I did sneak off for a wander with the besty for an hour or so and wandered around the little vintage shops and cheese, pastry and chocolate shops until we were completely lost.
I purchased a lush red vintage Lacoste knit cardigan and a spike studded bracelet as well as other things..
Our flight got cancelled so we had to stay another night.. not going to lie I was pretty happy about that!
One of my friends got inked while we were there in the famous 'Hanky Panky's' where Kate Moss and Marron 5 have been tattooed also! I designed and drew here tattoo :)
Take a look at the photo's below...(polaroids still to come!)

AMSTERDAM.

Early hours of Saturday morning I will be en route to Liverpool airport with my chicks to fly to Amsterdam.
We are staying in this infamous district, not sure whether you will have heard of it?..
I'm pretty worried for the well being of me & my 6 other friends. It could get messy.

But the one thing on my mind (and all the other girrrls) at this precise moment is of course.. What am I going to wear!?
I think I have it covered now as I have lots of winter essentials, plus an outfit for what will be a crazy night at TIMEWARP.
This includes: Leather high waisted shorts, over the knee knitted socks, shearling buckle ankle boots (gotta keep the tootsies warm!) a long sleeved olive coloured crop top and big peacock feather earrings :) Sorted..
A few Amsterdam essentails:

As for the days I will just have to wrap up to the absolute max.. I've heard its -6 & heavy snow..
Wish us luck!..

On Thursday, 24th November the Consumer PR team staged a Very X Factor
catwalk show to present our Christmas party dressing to media and the contestants.

X Factor contestants took to the red carpet dressed head-to-toe in Very clothing, introduced the event to press and had front row positions during the show.

Coverage for the event has so far appeared in a host of print and online media including The Daily Star, Metro, Look.co.uk, Instyle.co.uk, Hello.co.uk, Cosmopolitan.co.uk, Glamour.co.uk, Company.com, Look.co.uk, Sky.co.uk and AOL.co.uk.

Our ‘very’ own Scouse Rebecca Furgeson was looking very smart dressed head to toe in very.co.uk product including brands such as KG and a gorgeous coat from Fearne Cotton’s range.

LANVIN for H&M!

Ok so I'm absolutely gutted that I cannot make it to a H&M store today to purchase some beautiful Lanvin items from their new collection in collaboration with H&M, which to my delight launches in stores as of Today! I've been informed the queue's are insane - pretty undertsandable.

"H&M is proud to announce that its next designer collaboration will be with Lanvin, one of the most influential brands of the 21st century. Designed by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, the collection will go on sale on November 23 in around 200 H&M stores worldwide. The collection of both womenswear and menswear will be revealed to the world on November 2, just three weeks before the clothes hit the store, making the launch of Lanvin for H&M among the most anticipated fashion events of the year."

Below are a few of my fave pieces from the new collection. Save some for meeeeeeeeee...!

Fashion's Dirty Secret..

DISPATCHES PRESENTS: Fashion's Dirty Secret 08/11/10

A documentary tonight on Channel 4 shows reporter Tazeen Ahmad exploring the dark side behind high street fast fashion products and where they are being produced.

I found this programme particularly interesting due to the work I am in now I deal with suppliers on a daily basis and it is important to be constantly aware of where your bought product is being manufactured and packaged from start to finish in order to comply with company rules and regulations and ethical trading standards.

However as a young fashion concious women how much do we really take into account when buying value fast fashion garments from the high street!?..

I for one have the thoughts there at the back of my mind but barely take them into consideration when buying a garment for a night out I know i may only wear once or twice.

"Inside the dirty basement of a textile factory we have filmed in, workers are packed into a windowless room. Their heads are bent low over noisy and unsafe sewing machines; the fire exits are blocked and when they get their much-longed for break they sit on boxes to eat their lunch. The conditions are not just poor, they are appalling."

Should we as customers be recognising the real cost behind our throw away tee's and act on this in order to create better working environments for these poorly paid people or are we too obsessed with our insatiable appetite for dirt cheap fashion??

Marie Claire.

In December's issue of Marie Claire I fell in love with Leighton Meester as she puts her modelling skills forward and poses for a smouldering hair and beauty shoot. Smokey eyes & plaited buns will be my inspiration this month..

What's Apniiin...

Well here goes..
My first ever Blog post, I feel I should say something incredibly smart but nothing comes to mind.
In fact the only thing that comes to mind at the moment is daydream's of The Alexander McQueen Knuckle duster clutch:
But luckily I have found a cheaper alternative that allows me to appraise and relish the savvy highstreet of today..
Thank you River Island ;)

My name is H by the way and I'm a Fashion student in Manchester but I am working on a placement at the moment for Very.co.uk as an assistant buyer.
As the internet feeds most fashion agenda's now I felt I better join the madness.
With a little push from a certain 'Guru'...So Cheers for that...

Anyway.. here's where is begins..
Peace.xoxo
